As a Cancer Resource Navigator with the American Cancer Society, Emmy helps guide patients through the non-medical aspects of cancer treatment. Assigned to the Boulder Community Hospital, this position represents an innovative partnership between the American Cancer Society and Boulder Community Hospital. Emmy's duties include informing patients about valuable services available through The American Cancer Society, Boulder Community Hospital and in Boulder County as well as state and nationwide programs and services. She assists patients and their families in finding free wigs, turbans and hats, and connects patients with medical supplies such as breast prosthesis and other supplies needed throughout and after cancer treatments. She provides information on helpful community resources, arranges transportation to treatments, and assists patients with finding grants and insurance for financial assistance. Emmy also supplies information on the patient's specific type of cancer, what to expect during and after treatment, and how to cope with the disease.
